I have this flash slideshow on my that was created using a 3rd party software. I'm trying to find out does anyone know of 3rd flash creator that creates a slideshow such as this one.I'm referring to the flash that's located in the bottom of the screen

So I tried to get the parent of the slider which should return the main class but it doesn't work. View 1 RepliesI need to create an avatar creator, the concept is simple. We have a base image for a head, on top of this we layer on other elements (eyes, nose, mouth), saving it converts the image on the flash widget into a .jpg. I'm confident in my ability to create the interface, I have basic knowledge of AS 3 and flash in general, but I'm unsure how to go about this. I want to pass a variable to flash to indicate who the user is who's editing his or her avatar. Then I want to pull some kind of db file to have the image re-construct itself in flash (maybe from an XML file - so it would need to create/update an xml file).

View 1 RepliesI'm new to Flash and I need to learn how to do a slideshow with exactly the same features as can be found in this link: [URL]. Just like at the link above, it needs to play through the slides automatically once the page is loaded, each slide needs to link to a specific URL, and I need controls similar to the boxes at the bottom so the viewer can click on any specific slide they wish to view (I'd like to have numbers in the boxes though). The transitions don't have to slide across like this. If a fade is easier, that would be fine.
Actually, I thought I'd be able to do this fairly easily with Flash Catalyst, so I updated to Adobe CS5 Design Premium. I found that Flash Catalyst can be used to create a slide show like this, but unfortunately it won't play automatically when the page loads and the viewer has to manually click through the slides, which is not what I need. I could be wrong, but from what I've read, I need Flash Builder to add code so the slide show will play automatically if I create it in Flash Catalyst.
I have a nice as3 swf that reads and xml file, and loads images with transitionsfor a slide show on an html banner page.This works fine. There are some users that see white space (the stage) before thefirst image loads. Depending on the clients connection, etc this can take aslong as 2 or 3 sec.
I was thinking about placing a jpeg in the fla, and adding it to the stageas a symbol or graphic, so instead of white space (or a color other than white)the user sees an image on the page, and when the xml loader places the first image on the page, the user sees the image, and the slideshow, etc.
I'd like the slideshow to have a black boarder box with a white background. I've got two buttons which I have made in Photoshop for previous and next image. I want the background of the slideshow to be white and images to be placed into this box for the user to be able to manually go through the images.

1. Let's say I have an icon of a person in my flash file, how can I make it so that when my moves rolls over the person a thinking bubble appears and when it rolls off the bubble disappears?
2. If I have a small image of a page version of a .pdf file in my flash file, how can I make it so that when the little .pdf page icon is click the .pdf file is launched?
3. I understand how to create a square button over text and mess with its up/down/over/click settings, but I am wondering how I can do something like change the color of the text when it is clicked or when the mouse is over it? Right now I only know how to change the color of the square button.
I've managed to make a simple slideshow in Flash, however the images just flick sharply to the next. Could you tell me how to do a fade transition?

I'm in the middle of building a simple flash slideshow, using alpha fades between images. I have three layers, the first one being text, on the timeline for each layer/image. The other two layers are images, small footprint (sized and optimized in photoshop, each less than 100k). When I hit the Enter key it will play on timeline but the preview and fla file just won't start, hung up on the first frame.

I have created two photo slideshows to put on a site I'm working on. One is on the home page and it seems to work fine. The second is on another page. This one is not working for some reason. I published it in the same way I did the first from Flash Professional. When I post the slide show on the home page it works. When I take the slidshow from the homepage and put it on the second it does not work.

By pushing I mean having an image come in from the left (or right) and place itself on top of the other (or pushing the other out of view). Like a slide show of three images scrolling along but one stops for a brief period before the other image comes into view.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to split up my code in classes. But there is a issue what really bothers me. When I create a class for functions I am giving its own stage. Like this:
dragf:Dragfunctions = new Dragfunctions(this)
And in the class i use this
var stage:Object;
public function Dragfunctions(stage:Object) {
this.stage = stage;
}
As you can see I can now call a variable of the stage using stage.var1 = "hi" but when I need to adjust that variable many times it gets a quite messy. There is a way to tell that when I call var1 he knows i mean stage.var1 without need to call stage.
Its:
var var1 = stage.var1
And then using
stage.var1 = var1
But that is quite unhandy too is there a better way?
I am trying to figure out how to create a flash slideshow including buttons that interact with the slides. View 1 RepliesI have used this slideshow for few projects and all I've done in the past is import new images (about 100k) and publish. The image are bit map of type (png) not big about 100k size.
Without saving the file I do a "test movie". Instead of doing the slideshow it displays the first image but doesn't loop through the rest.
I'm at a bit at a lost here. The path to the image in bitmap properties on the origanal file in imported is relative but when I select a new image its full path.

I have tried already with toggling visibility and 'gotoAndStop()' to make items appear over other items when the corresponding button is pressed, for example, when the user tries out different pants/shirts on their character.
I have Flash CS4, but the tutorial I used to create this used Action Script 2.0.[URL] This is just a basic mockup of the site, but you can see that the client wants to have images of the pages of their publication that you can browse and have their advertising be clickable so it takes you to Coke's site for example. The example you see there I did in Flash, but I was having trouble making the hotspots be active at the right time -- i.e. right now Morningside market is clickable even when the image is not up, and then it goes away and the hotspots I have on Coke aren't working.
The client also wants to have links to each page by number i.e. Front Cover/1-2/2-3. So I saw that that part would be easy to do in Fireworks, but can't figure out the clickable aspect. Then on the other hand, in Flash, I can't get it all to work either.

If you click on the "Issues" link, you will see a slideshow comes up.
If you click on the "Campaign" link, you will a page come up with links on the side, and a bare space to the left.
In the blank space, there is supposed to be a slideshow to come up. When I test the site on my computer, it comes up perfectly fine. But, when I load it to the server, it does not show up.
The ONLY difference in these pages is that the "Campaign" page is a scrollable page, where as the "Issues" page is not. I have tried to resize the scrollable page, and move it to the right side of the page, but it makes the text unreadable- even after resizing the box, and such. I have tried to change the slideshow into a symbol. I've tried a couple of other things, but to no avail.
I have tried several navigation scripts and z-index all over the place but no matter what I try the sub-folders of my navigation on my homepage always gets hidden by the slideshow. I have a slideshow, and I would like to have a loading scene right before it. on the last frame of the loading scene, i have:

the other scene is main. i only see white space at the begining, and not my loading text.
